Sixty-One

Context:

Sixty-One is a memoir about faith, tragedy, family, and life lessons from NBA star Chris Paul. This was a fun project as a lifelong Houston Rockets fan (he played for them). I kept the interior design clean with sans serif display type and a strong cross-page spread for the title page. Each chapter opener page had to be laid out slightly differently, because there were epigraphs of varied lengths (inspirational quotes from Kobe Bryant, Paul’s grandfather “Papa”, and many more). Dashed lines were used throughout as a nod to court lines. As happens with old images, some of the photos provided were not able to be improved upon resolution-wise so I leaned in to the nostalgic feeling for the photo insert. Overall, this was a successful package and it was an instant NYT, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and Wall Street Journal bestseller.
