Context:

Scattered Showers is a collection of short stories by Rainbow Rowell, a legacy author for Macmillan Publishers. I used her previous titles as inspiration, while tackling the new challenge presented by only being able to print using two Pantone inks. In addition to designing the whole interior, I hired and supported her long-time collaborator Jim Tierney for the illustration frontispieces from a production perspective (he also worked on the cover for another department). From each image, I pulled out a small detail to be used on each chapter opener page (confetti, a film reel, etc.). A project with many moving pieces including sprayed edges and a ribbon marker!

Tasks:

Setting up files for two color printing, supporting freelance illustrator as intermediary between editorial/author and production, endpaper design, sprayed edges, typesetting entire book including complicated text message formatting.
